The award-winning, nationally-acclaimed South Pasadena Strings Program offers music instruction to students beginning as young as 3 years old. Throughout the year, the Strings Program offers group classes and private lessons in the areas of violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar, piano, voice, and flute. Our program is well known for our popular KinderPiano® and KinderViolin® classes, designed for our young beginners.
The program has earned many honors, and our ensembles continue to appear on local and national radio and television. Most recently, members of our Los Angeles Children's Orchestra (formerly known as the South Pasadena Children's Orchestra) were seen in the Tournament of Roses parade, performing on the South Pasadena float. In December 2009, the orchestra was featured on KCET PBS Holiday Celebrations. Our most recent trip to a prestigious, invitation-only festival at Carnegie Hall in New York City earned us the highest rating of gold and a world record for the youngest orchestra (ages 5 to 12) ever recorded to perform at Carnegie Hall.
Susan Pascale, the founder and director of the program, is also the creator of the Pascale Method® of teaching violin. Pascale teaches seminars and workshops to music educators and parents as well as students.
