Children's Choir Program
The South Pasadena Training Choir and Children's Choir are community-centered choral arts programs, open to all youngsters from kindergarten through 6th grade.
Our mission for these choirs is to nurture our children's love of music, and to develop ensembles which strive for excellence at all skill levels. The study of a quality repertoire hones their vocal skills; participation in rehearsals builds self-discipline and provides a direct experience of the power of teamwork; and in performance, our members have the opportunity to represent themselves and their community with poise, confidence, and musical artistry.
The Training Choir is designed for children pre-K through 1rst. It is led by Marija Loncar Strohm, a concert organist, who also heads S. Pasadena Strings' Piano program. Register through our online catalogue.
The South Pasadena Children's Choir is open to all 2nd -6th graders. Directing the children's choir is Helen Mendoza, who has more than 30 years of experience singing in choral ensembles. She is a founding member of Vox Femina Los Angeles, a premiere women's chorus, and also serves as VFLA's concert producer. In the coming year, the Children's Choir will compete at the 'Music in the Parks' festival at Disneyland, and collaborate with other regional choirs. Register through our online catalogue.
